Nishi Munshi wiki : Nishi Munshi has been an Actress, Singer, Musician and Choreographer/Dancer in the entertainment industry for 15 successful years. From humble and unique beginnings as the daughter of immigrants, her introduction to America started in a small studio apartment where her entire family lived. She is the daughter of two artists. Her father is a musician, composer and scientist, while her mother was a news anchor, a poet and an advocate for Alzheimer's education amongst many other talents.
Following her traditional South-Asian upbringing, Nishi got her Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Riverside in Political Science/International Relations and was an early Dean's List graduate completing her studies in 2 years and 8 months. She was the President of the Asian Indian Student Association, Pledge Class President of her Sorority Pi Beta Phi and 1 of 10 academic excellence students chosen to participate in the prestigious Washington D.C. internship program as well as a candidate for research studies abroad at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. After a few years working in the legal field, she decided that the artist in her needed to fulfill its dreams, rather than living in "what ifs" for the rest of her life.
Growing up on stage, she has performed and has been showcased in over 1,000 live-stage shows with her family band in singing, drumming, theater and dance across 17 countries. Holding a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and placing first at Young Olympians Nationals in highest kick, sparring and form for 3 consecutive years gave her the confidence and skill to begin as an assistant stunt director in her first glimpse of working on a feature film, "My Name Is Khan". Nishi chose to grow her creative palette by taking advantage of each opportunity that presented itself, or simply by working hard to create opportunities for herself. Over the years, her Acting credits included working with: NBC, CBS, USA Network, FOX, Warner Bros., Lifetime and other networks on shows such as 'Jane the Virgin', 'The Originals', 'Bones', 'Pretty Little Liars", "Switched at Birth", "Days of Our Lives" and many more. The latest fan favorite role she played was 'Gia' on CW's "The Originals" and 'Devi' on Sony Playstation's "The Order 1886" video game. In her independent film experience, her production team was able to sell their first feature film at AFI and obtain private funding and successful filming for which she served as an Executive Producer and took her first stab at directing scenes for the film.
In the world of music, she is the youngest composer from GSA Academy to arrange and license music for NBC's "Outsourced" and UFC fight games. She won the title of the Golden Voice by "Slumdog Millionaire's" Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman and has performed with him at the Hollywood Bowl. She is a true musician at heart and still enjoys playing Indian instruments (tabla, harmonium, and dhol) as well as the drum set.
Being a skilled Classical (Kathak, Bharatnatiyam) and Bollywood dancer, she has had the chance of a lifetime choreographing and dancing with prominent artists: Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo and the acclaimed Michael Jackson's Cirque ONE show.
As an advocate for human rights, she served as a board member for Valley Family Center (victims of domestic violence) for one year and her volunteer work has ranged from hours spent at the Braille Institute and tutoring/mentoring at-risk youth all over Los Angeles. Her Webisodes, Youtube videos, book of poetry and novel that she is working on are aimed to raise funds for the people of Puerto Rico, human rights activism and for educating our at-risk youth both in America and abroad.
